guess what? we bought a house!
Yes, after 18 months of looking, offering, loosing, taking a necessary break, moving, looking again, offering, cursing appraisal-ing, offering AGAIN, and finally GETTING we have moved into what quite possibly could be my favorite place in the world. You know all that "blessing in disguise" crap people throw at you when something disappointing happens? Well it's TRUE. Believe your friends and family when they say - it's for the best. We went through hell and back to find a place and now that we finally found one I must say - it's a gem.
hard wood floors, high ceilings, big windows, character that goes for miles. It's a dream. It's also currently primary color heaven - literally the walls are red, yellow and blue. EVERYTHING needs to be painted, and some things need to be updated - it will be a long journey but the DIY in me is excited and ready for the challenge, while knd's practical/financial brain is probably screaming in fear.
SO, Let the projects begin.
First stop - kitchen. Currently we have red walls, and green - yes green, counter tops. This needs to change. So this weekend my mom/saving grace is coming over and we are painting the cupboards white, the walls a dark gray, and soon we will have beautiful hard wood/chopping block counter tops. I hope to tear out a few of the cupboards that are so oddly placed in a spot where some of them don't even open because other cabinets are in their way, and replace with open shelving. Throw in my vintage chopping block (made by my pops), some new handles and fixtures and a doggy nook for the food dishes that are always in the way, and viola! kitchen makeover.
I'll be sharing before, during, and after pictures along the way - but for now here is some inspiration:

KITCHEN
We are in the process of buying a house - hopefully, fingers crossed third times the charm - so of course I am suddenly flushed with the need to redecorate. knd thinks i'm nuts and he's probably right - I pretty much pretend I'm on HGTV, although I don't have the budget or the tools. I just can't help being drawn to the idea of a new kitchen, paint chips, and endless DIY ideas!
These olive-grey cabinets. lurve.
ESCORT
assigned tables are absolutely necessary, and I love this natural wood with tea stained paper combo. I think I'll use flowers instead of succulents though.

REPEAT AFTER ME
“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don’t get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can’t do anything, don’t get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it’s ready to come undone. You have to figure it’s going to be a long process and that you’ll work on things slowly, one at a time.”
